GIFTED WBA Inter-Continental bantamweight champion Tshifhiwa "Atomic Spider" Munyai is going nowhere, Palesa Mosiea, manager at Robs Promotions, told Sowetan yesterday.

This is contrary to this newspaper's story last week. A source told this writer that Munyai had joined rival promoters Golden Gloves.

"He is going nowhere," said Mosiea yesterday. "As far as I know Munyai has a contract with Robs Promotions and it ends in November."

Munyai, 24, from Makwarela in Limpopo, said he read about his alleged move in Sowetan.

"I am still contracted with Robs Promotions and my contract ends on December 5 but I believe my trainer and manager Elias Tshabalala knows better than I do," he said.

Munyai's sole gripe is that he fought only once this year.

"If my promoter (Blacky Seoe) puts something better on the table, we will still work together next year," said Munyai, who made headlines in Britain in 2006 when he punished that country's hot prospect, Martin Power, for the Commonwealth title.

Tshabalala told Sowetan last week: "We want to honour the contract. I'm surprised by the claims that Tshifhiwa has left Robs Promotions."

He admitted, though, that Golden Gloves could take Munyai to greater heights, as it did with "my other fighters Dingaan Thobela, 'Sugarboy' Malinga and Silence Mabuza".

Tshabalala was not available for comment yesterday.
