THE suspended manager of Mpumalanga's poorest municipality has awarded a contract of about R20million to a firm linked to his brother.
This is one of several reasons Sabelo Shabangu, the Nkomazi municipality manager, has been suspended.
An investigation by the municipality's forensic unit shows that Shamacivils-Consulting Engineers won an R18million contract with the Malelane municipality - for the provision of professional engineering services - with Shabangu's approval.
Shabangu's brother, Thabo, was a member of the firm. - Alfred Moselakgomo
