ASA stops Mthangayi

ATHLETICS South Africa announced yesterday that athlete Lindikhaya Mthangayi has been suspended from all competitions with immediate effect for using a banned substance.

ATHLETICS South Africa announced yesterday that athlete Lindikhaya Mthangayi has been suspended from all competitions with immediate effect for using a banned substance.

Mthangayi, from the Western Province Athletics, tested positive for four methyl and two hexanamine. That was after he competed in a marathon in Bloemfontein last month.

ASA general manager Molatelo Malehopo said Mthangayi will go for a B sample in due time.

Malehopo dismissed suggestions that Mthangayi was not aware that four methyl and two hexanamine was a banned substance. - Mogomotsi Selebi
