BUS commuters atGaMokgwathi village outside Tzaneen have accused Balobedu Long Distance Taxi Association drivers of victimising them for using buses to travel to Gauteng.
Commuters say they use Putco buses each week from Gauteng to their homes in the village on Fridays and back to their work places on Sundays.
They allege that taxi members come to GaMokgwathi village especially on Sundays to prevent passengers from using the buses.
Concerned commuters say they prefer using the buses because the prices are reasonable and they arrive safely at their destinations.
"Commuters who try to question the taxi drivers about their actions are threatened that they will be assaulted," says one angry commuter.
They call on the police and roads and transport department to take action against the taxi operators for violating their rights.
They also say they resorted to using the buses because of the long distance between the village and Mokwakwaila and Kgapane, where they have to catch the taxis to Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Limpopo police spokesperson Superintendent Ronnel Otto says they have not yet received any complaints.
Otto advises victims of the taxi drivers to report the matter at their local police stations.
