R&B star T-Pain jets in tomorrow for his first gig in the country - at Free State's Macufe Festival. The rap star will headline the festival on Friday at Loch Logan Rose Garden in Bloemfontein.

The high-energy 20-year-old rapper, songwriter and producer is fast consolidating himself in the international music scene.

Tallahassee Pain - born Faheem Najm in Tallahassee, Florida, in 1985 - began writing and producing his own music at the age of 10, and in the early 2000s he had success with songs such as Robbery and F.L.A. while a member of the rap group Nappy Headz.

After going solo he was recognised by Akon, who signed him up to a Konvict Muzik/Jive Records deal.

In December 2005, T-Pain's first album title, Rappa Ternt Sanga, was released.

The album's I'm Sprung was hit No8 on Billboard's Hot 100, and I'm N Luv (Wit A Stripper), hit No5 on Billboard's Hot 100.

The album was certified gold for selling over 500000 copies, putting T-Pain up with the top stars.
