Muso faces music over taxi permit

SELF-PROCLAIMED Limpopo kwasa-kwasa king Steven Maloabotsheba Sefofa could find himself in hot water with the department of roads and transport.

SELF-PROCLAIMED Limpopo kwasa-kwasa king Steven Maloabotsheba Sefofa could find himself in hot water with the department of roads and transport.

This after investigations by the department revealed yesterday that Sefofa has been using an operating permit of an unroadworthy Inyathi taxi on an illegal taxi.

Sefofa accused the department yesterday of being inefficient after traffic officers impounded his taxi and 40 others because they were not roadworthy.

Traffic officers claimed Sefofa's white Quantum had a permit that did not match with the number plate.

An argument between the muso and the traffic officers started at the police station in Modjadjiskloof where his car was kept.

Sefofa argued that the permit on the taxi was genuine and that he had no reason to doubt it since it was issued by the department last year.

But the department's investigations proved otherwise.

Departmental spokesperson Wisane Ngobeni said the Bolobedu-based muso had not been totally honest about the operating permit.

Ngobeni said Sefofa had put a genuine permit of his unroadworthy Inyathi taxi on the Quantum, which had no proper permit.

"But if any foul-play is found on Sefofa's side, he will have to face the music from the department," said Ngobeni.

However, Sefofa is adamant his permit is genuine.

"If my permit was a fake, I wouldn't be making such a huge noise. I would have applauded the department for a job well done," he said.
