Awards for De Sa, Kadi

SECOND-placed Bidvest Wits's remarkable start to the season has not gone unnoticed, with coach Roger De Sa and player Calvin Kadi yesterday named Absa Premiership coach and player of the month for September.

SECOND-placed Bidvest Wits's remarkable start to the season has not gone unnoticed, with coach Roger De Sa and player Calvin Kadi yesterday named Absa Premiership coach and player of the month for September.

De Sa shared the accolades with his SuperSport United counterpart Gavin Hunt. This was the second time a coach and player from the same club won the award, after Orlando Pirates' Ruud Krol and Benson Mhlongo last month.

De Sa said: "It is very special for me to receive this award from Professor Ronnie Schloss (PSL chief operations officer) because he is the one who encouraged me to go into coaching. So far it has been good and I hope we can continue with this form. But it has been a team effort."

He also promised to end Wits's habit of starting well only to falter towards the end of the season.

Kadi beat off competition from Moeneeb Josephs of Pirates and Bloemfontein Celtic's Prince Olomu.

"I hope to continue with my current form and scoring 15 goals this season would not be bad. Winning this award will motivate me to work harder," said Kadi, the league's leading scorer with eight goals.
