Pirates still unbeaten this season

ORLANDO Pirates are still unbeaten in the Absa Premiership this season after playing to a goalless draw against Free State Stars at the Charles Mopeli Stadium on Saturday.

Stars squandered numerous scoring opportunities much to the chagrin of their supporters. Stars must also thank their goalie, Kennedy Mweene, who made several breathtaking saves to deny Pirates all three points.

In Atteridgeville, also on Saturday, reigning champions SuperSport United dropped two valuable points when they drew 1-all against Lamontville Golden Arrows at Super Stadium.

Ntlantla Zothwane scored for Arrows in the 55th minute while Bongani Khumalo netted United's equaliser five minutes later.

Elsewhere, Bloemfontein Celtic maintained their unbeaten run in the Premiership this season with a 2-1 victory over Platinum Stars at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Celtic's impressive start to the season has brought the smile back to the faces of Masokolara, considering that the team was nearly axed from the top flight last season. Coach Owen da Gama made it clear in the off-season that Celtic will not find themselves in a relegation dogfight this term and their vocal supporters believe he will take the team to greater heights.
