LIMPOPO police are investigating the death of a woman from Makapans village near Mokopane, whose body was discovered in the bushes yesterday.
The woman cannot be identified until her next of kin have been notified.
The police said the woman had several wounds, which appear to be from a sharp object.
The woman was found lying in a pool of blood.
Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said a man in his 30s was arrested after intensive police investigations linked him to the crime.
He said the woman was raped before being killed.
"We arrested a man from Makapans village after the murder of a 40-year-old woman, and we believe he will assist us in our investigations," Ramatseba said yesterday.
He said the object used in the murder had not yet been recovered.
"We are continuing with our investigations to uncover the whole truth.
"We are not yet sure if the two had an affair before the gruesome killing," Ramatseba said.
The man is expected to appear in the Mokopane magistrate's court today. - Frank Maponya
