BLUE Bulls captain Victor Matfield said wing Bryan Habana's return will inspire the team when they face Griquas in an Absa Currie Cup game at Loftus on Saturday at 3pm.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Matfield said the team had missed Habana badly over the past three weeks while he was on honeymoon. His return will reinforce the side, which is eager to collect full points and ensure a place in the semifinals.
The former IRB Player of the Year was part of the starting XV announced by coach Frans Ludeke for Saturday's game.
Matfield said: "It is really good to have Habana back after his wedding. The hard-running and elusive wing always brings a new dimension in the squad.
"He is always a very positive guy and has the ability to motivate those around him and influence the flow of the game. He hasn't won a Currie Cup yet and he is working extremely hard to help us reach our goals."
It would be the perfect parting gift if Habana would help his team to lift this year's trophy before his switch to Western Province at the end of the season.
Matfield said that his side needs to focus for the full 80 minutes against Griquas.
"The Griquas are always very dangerous and we need to up our game from last week's game against the Cheetahs. They have played very well thus far and we need to have a real good start and put them under pressure from the word go," Matfield said.
The Bulls squad: Zane Kirchner, Francois Hougaard, Jaco Pretorius, Wynand Olivier, Habana, Morne Steyn, Heini Adams, Pierre Spies, Dewald Potgieter, Deon Stegmann, Matfield (captain), Danie Rossouw, Werner Kruger, Derick Kuun, Gurthro Steenkamp.
