The trainers have been at each other's throats for a long time, demanding a fight between their charges Marcel "Lights Out" Japhta and Siyabulela Ziqula.
It got so bad that at one stage Ziqula, who is from Dordrecht in Eastern Cape, mocked Japhta after winning a fight.
Japhta, the Gauteng provincial champion from Westbury, has shown an interest in the fight.
"Ek sal hom breek (I will break him)," he warned.
Japhta boasts eight knockout wins with one loss, while Ziqula, who was Japhta's stablemate at Pailman's Westside Boxing Academy in Westbury, has eight wins, seven defeats and a draw.
Ziqula is a talented fighter who just needs to get his head right.
Pailman, Cliff Martins and Peter Faver have agreed that this fight must happen. Andrew Smale, who represents the WBO in Africa, had even offered his organisation's Africa featherweight title.
But World Sports Productions, which was to stage the bout, could not because its licence was revoked by Boxing SA.
Japhta then fought under new promoter Andre Kerr, whose Seconds Out Promotions presented its first tournament at Wembley Arena last Thursday night.
Japhta turned off Victor Kota's lights in less than a minute. An elated Pailman - looking in the direction of Rass, who sat next to Dingaan Thobela at the ringside - called out Ziqula. Rass was not impressed by Pailman's gesture.
"Why did they change the opponent if they really wanted my boy to fight theirs?" he asked.
"Look, this fight must happen, no matter what."
He said he would request promoters Reggie Hilman and Gavin Hope of Future Promotions to include it on their card for November 6.
