ANC looking after Chuene

THE recent announcement by government spokesperson Themba Maseko that no action would be taken against embattled ASA president Leonard Chuene over the handling of the Caster Semenya case comes as no surprise to some of us who have been saying that it pays to be an ANC member.

THE recent announcement by government spokesperson Themba Maseko that no action would be taken against embattled ASA president Leonard Chuene over the handling of the Caster Semenya case comes as no surprise to some of us who have been saying that it pays to be an ANC member.

It is a fact that Chuene is a card-carrying member of the ANC so what do you expect from his comrades? Gwede Mantashe said at the time of the Carl-Niehaus saga: "Comrades protect other comrades."

I smelt a rat when Semenya was welcomed at OR Tambo airport when Chuene played the race card. I knew then that something was fishy.

Who can trust a president who publicly denies a fact and then, when he is caught with his pants down, he says that he lied the first time to protect someone.

People with no integrity or the required skills are being parachuted to occupy certain leadership positions, hence the Chuene-Semenya mess.
