At Cato Ridge, near Engen, the driver of a bakkie lost control of the vehicle and cut across north-bound traffic, colliding with a truck.
One person died.
In Port Shepstone a minibus hit a truck from behind in Watterson Street and went under it. Nine people were injured and six were treated for shock.
In another accident on the R103 old main road in Estcourt, a vehicle lost control and overturned. Five people were critically injured.
In Greytown a light delivery vehicle ran out of control and overturned on the Qhudeni Nkandla road. This was due to brake failure. Three people died and one was injured.
Nineteen passengers are in a serious condition in hospital after the taxi in which they were travelling collided with a truck on the N2 near Port Shepstone.
On the N2 near Sunningdale a vehicle lost control and collided with another. One person sustained minor injuries and the other person was treated for shock.
During a roadblock on Saturday at uMdloti, M4 Virginia, Durban North, 20 people were arrested for driving under the influence of liquor, and 24 warrants and 42 summonses were issued.
