UNBEATEN RECORDS AT STAKE

TOMORROW night's top-of-the-table Absa Premiership contest between Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits at Orlando Stadium has all the hallmarks of a thriller.

TOMORROW night's top-of-the-table Absa Premiership contest between Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits at Orlando Stadium has all the hallmarks of a thriller.

Both teams are unbeaten in the league so far this season and soccer fans are waiting with bated breath to see the outcome of this one.

Though the Clever Boys have been playing well this term, they don't appear to have the beating of the rampant Buccaneers.

Ruud Krol's side continued with their rich vein of form when they pipped an obdurate Platinum Stars side 1-0 in midweek. Wits also chalked up a confidence-boosting 2-0 win over Moroka Swallows going to Orlando.

Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs said they were determined to walk away with the championship title at the end of the season.

"The league is a marathon but we are working hard as a collective to win the league. For me the plan is to maintain a clean sheet."

Wits midfielder Michael Morton, who is on loan from Pirates, said they hoped to continue their fine form.

l Football lovers in KwaZulu-Natal are expected to be spoilt with good football when two tactically disciplined sides coached by two master tacticians clash in a KZN derby at Chatsworth Stadium tomorrow.

The teams are Lamontville Golden Arrows and Maritz-burg United. The sides boast the country's most underrated players, Siyabonga Sangweni, the Arrows defender, and Fadlu Davids, United's prolific attacker.

"I think the match will be engrossing and tough, true to the derbies," Sangweni said. "United are doing very well and this is going to make it even tougher for us, but we are expecting nothing less than a win."

Davids said they were determined to avenge last season's humiliating derby loss.
