A STATEMENT made by slain tourism mogul Franz Richter's widow cannot be used against two of the accused standing trial for his murder.
The Johannesburg high court ruled yesterday that the statement was inadmissible.
Judge Piet Meyer did not give reasons for his ruling.
Celiwe Mbokazi had made the statement to Director Piet Byleveld saying she, Ronnie Khumalo, and Dumisani Xulu had planned to rob and kill her elderly husband.
Mbokazi, Khumalo, Xulu, Tshepo Chirwa, Gilbert Mosadi and Vincent Dlamini are on trial for Richter's murder.
Prosecutor Mahlubi Ntlakaza said the ruling meant the statement can only be used against Mbokazi, and not the other accused.
The trial continues.
