SA pushes White Wedding

THE locally produced blockbuster White Wedding has been selected for submission at the Oscars 2010.

THE locally produced blockbuster White Wedding has been selected for submission at the Oscars 2010.

The South African academy award selection committee and National Film and Video Foundation announced the selection of White Wedding for consideration yesterday as the South African entry for the 82nd Academy Awards.

If approved by the Oscars academy award selection committee White Wedding will represent South Africa as a nominee in the Foreign Language category of the Oscars in 2010.

The film becomes the second local film to be selected after Tsotsi last year.

Written by famous actors Rapulana Seiphemo and Kenneth Nkosi, the romantic film grossed more than R1,1million at the box office in its first week.

White Wedding is an appealing, feel-good movie about love, commitment, intimacy and friendship and a host of maddening obstacles that can get in the way of a happy ending.

Nkosi said: "We are really honoured to be selected to represent our country. I can't believe this is happening."
