JULIAN Seleke-Mokoto's sexually explicit play, Money Maker, is in demand after a successful season last month at Joburg's Windybrow Theatre.

After its run at the WindybrowMoney Maker's initial four performances at the Mmabana Cultural Centre in Mafikeng was extended.

Now it can be seen at the Cultural Calabash in Taung, North West, from September 26 to 28.

Written and directed by Seleke-Mokoto, Money Maker explores the world of sex workers in a humorous way.

If features actors Linda Sebezo, Carol Behane, Lindiwe Mbundu, Dallas Sibusiso Kunene and Mariaan Luboya-Muanza.

Seleke-Mokoto says audiences enjoy the play, but some do not understand the message implicit in the explicitness.

"Basically this is a story about the socio-economics of migration," he says. "I am trying to show that sex workers do not choose to sell their bodies but are forced to owing to difficult circumstances. The play also challenges women who abandon their children."

Seleke-Mokoto says he believes the play is doing so well because it address issues that people can relate to.

Money Maker is about a mother who leaves rural Mpumalanga for greener pastures in the City of Gold but instead ends up making a living as a hooker.
