Bulls use Bok trio in Wellington

THE return of three of their Springbok players will reinforce the Blue Bulls for Saturday's Absa Currie Cup game against the Boland Cavaliers in Wellington.

THE return of three of their Springbok players will reinforce the Blue Bulls for Saturday's Absa Currie Cup game against the Boland Cavaliers in Wellington.

The Boks included in the squad are tighthead prop Gurthro Steenkamp, hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle and right-wing Wynand Olivier, who will captain the team.

Bulls coach Frans Ludeke explained yesterday that the trio were included in the team because they did not get much game time in the Boks' recent Tri-Nations matches.

"It is great to have these players back and hopefully they will add impetus to the team," Ludeke said.

He said the rest of the Bulls' Springbok players, who have taken a rest, will be back in the team next week. Olivier said it was going to be war against the hosts, who will have fringe players on loan from Western Province.

"We are not going to underestimate Boland at all because they have quite good players. We are bracing ourselves for a very tough match."

He said they would have to push Boland for the full 80 minutes after losing three games in a row.

The Bulls are fifth on the log with 27 points from 10 games.
