Fresh new voice on Capricorn

LIMPOPO yesterday woke up to the fresh new voice of the "First Lady" of the Ashifa breakfast show on Capricorn FM, Mpho Maumela.

LIMPOPO yesterday woke up to the fresh new voice of the "First Lady" of the Ashifa breakfast show on Capricorn FM, Mpho Maumela.

Maumela made her debut on the station after being chosen in an intense search for a dynamic personality to join a creative team that has changed the face of morning radio in the province.

She replaces Mpho Melato, who left the radio station two months ago.

Maumela has a BA degree in Media Studies from the University of Venda, equipping her with the training necessary to make it big in the broadcasting world. According to the station's programme manager, Shonisani Muleya, Maumela could not have joined the station at a better time.

"Mpho will be part of a show that is already welcomed by many in Limpopo and as such she will form part of a great team," Muleya said.

The station's chief executive Simphiwe Mdlalose, said they were "truly blessed" to have unearthed such a talented individual".

"We are delighted to be able to attract a fresh personality like Mpho and we are proud to be introducing her to the commercial radio world," Mdlalose said.

The province's only commercial radio station broadcasts 70percent in English and 30percent in Tshivenda, Sepedi and Xitsonga.

It has been rated the fourth largest independent regional radio station in South Africa and is a two-time Diamond Arrow winner in the Professional Management Review (PMR) Awards.
