Chiefs captain Jimmy Tau yesterday admitted to the perilousness of their position.
"We have regrouped from the weekend's setback and are doing everything to rectify the mistakes that led to our (1-0) loss against Maritzburg United. We find ourselves in a difficult situation, but it will be one challenging game tomorrow night (tonight) because Stars are a quality side," Tau said.
Steve Komphela's side came away with a point at the weekend from Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Former Chiefs player Jabu Mahlangu, who has reportedly turned over a new leaf with the Tycoons, said the feeling in their camp was that Amakhosi had never been more dangerous.
"Everyone says Chiefs are going through a rough patch, but they need someone to use as a confidence booster.
"For us, there is plenty to improve on and for me personally, I am not back to my best yet, but am working on it.
"And for me, Chiefs are like any other team in the league," Mahlangu said yesterday.
Happily, Mahlangu whose disciplinary troubles are legendary, still has his job as the training captain, a responsibility given to him by Komphela that he says he enjoys very much.
Defender Lefa Mogaila will be absent from the Tycoons line-up and Mbulelo "OJ" Mabizela is a doubtful starter. Alton Meiring and new Japanese signing Norikazu Murakami are likely to prove a handful for the likes of Punch Masenamela and Thomas Sweswe in the Cheifs defence.
