Stop calling SA Mzansi

I HAVE written numerous letters to your newspaper in the past registering my absolute dismay at your continuous referral to this country as "Mzansi".

I HAVE written numerous letters to your newspaper in the past registering my absolute dismay at your continuous referral to this country as "Mzansi".

I once again want to register my absolute shock at the lack of respect for things official.

We have a brand name called South Africa, which we have been marketing a lot through Proudly South African and other forums.

Why, for heaven's sake do you have to change that simply because you want to be seen to be streetwise and cool?

You can still do a great job without resorting to such amateurish behaviour.

This country's name is South Africa, Afrika Borwa, Ningizimu Afrika, Afrika Tshipembe, etc. please cut the "Mzansi" crap.

We have worked hard as a nation to put the country where it is today and we want our own children to grow up with reverence for things official.

Exactly what purpose does it serve to call the country by that name?

Officially, this country's name is South Africa. Don't sneak in a name change through the back door, please. No wonder there is so much trashing of government property by strikers, including soldiers.

They are probably confused whether they are in the South African National Defence Force or some quack army.

Lack of respect starts with such behaviour and you are busy promoting it.
