Bongiwe Magongo, 34, of Port Elizabeth is a creative genius in fashion accessories.
She graduated from the Hope Factory's entrepreneurial development programme four years ago. She designs exquisite crocheted accessories such as necklaces, broaches and cellphone holders.
"The Hope Factory helped me explore a dormant gift. I can never thank them enough. Without their guidance, I would never have been able to get into the fashion industry," she said.
The past four years have been a journey filled with excitement. She was involved in two fashion and two bridal shows and is currently looking forward to participating in the first-ever Port Elizabeth Fashion Week.
The organisation teaches skills to unemployed, previously disadvantaged South Africans.
The Hope Factory team in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg and Pretoria comprises twenty staff members. The company is managed by the South African Chartered Accountants Association and is registered as a not-for-profit company.
