Iran hits out at US

TEHRAN - Iran yesterday rejected Washington's stand over Tehran's new defence minister, who is wanted by Argentina in connection with a 1994 bombing against a Jewish centre in Buenos Aires.

The US called the appointment of Ahmad Vahidi a "step backward".

"This shows that the US does not believe in democracy in other countries," foreign ministry's Hassan Ghashghavi said. - Sapa-AFP
