ATHLETICS South Africa will stage the Nedbank 5km and 21,1km championships at the Free State Athletics Stadium on Saturday.

The event will start at 7am with the 21,1km half marathon.

Last year's men's winner Hendrick Ramaala, who finished in 63min:55sec, says he is looking forward to to the race.

"Even though I'm the defending champion I feel no pressure at all.

"I have been taking things easy, and I will use Saturday's race in Bloemfontein as part of my preparations for the end-of-the-year marathon.

"I haven't decided yet which marathon - between the New York Marathon and Chicago Marathon - I will take part in," Ramaala said.

Rene Kalmer, the women's defending champion, won't be taking part as she is preparing to represent South Africa at the World 21km Championship in Birmingham, England, on October 11.
