THE Organisers of the 2010 Comrades Marathon are targeting a Guinness World Record number of finishers to complete an ultra-marathon and 20000 entrants for the down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on May 30.

THE Organisers of the 2010 Comrades Marathon are targeting a Guinness World Record number of finishers to complete an ultra-marathon and 20000 entrants for the down run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on May 30.

At a lavish launch at Montecasino yesterday, the Comrades Marathon Association unveiled its new logo and poster campaign.

The first phase of entries, open until October 31, is for all previous runners. The number of participants will be capped at 15000. Should this number be reached earlier, the entries will be declared closed. This category includes anyone who has ever started the race, including those who did not make it to the finish line. Novices will be able to enter throughout November but again, the number of participants will be capped at 5000. - Sapa
