THE wife of slain Bona editor Force Khashane, Palesa, is not a suspect alongside the three men arrested for his murder, Gauteng police said yesterday.
"The suspects are all men and as far as I know she is not a suspect," said Superintendent Lungelo Dlamini.
According to City Press, one of the arrested men implicated her in Khashane's murder.
The newspaper quoted an officer familiar with the investigation as saying that a statement by one of the suspects had led to Khashane's wife being questioned.
The officer read a statement to the paper in which Sikhumbuzo Mtshali, 20, the first to be arrested last week, stated that his brother Sibusiso was in contact with the woman on Thursday August 12.
This was the night Khashane was gunned down at his Orlando East home.
City Press also reported that Mtshali told the police that while on the way to Khashane's other home in Naturena, where the murder was to take place, his brother received a call from the woman about a change of plans.
They then drove to Orlando East where his brother spoke to the woman and received the registration number of Khashane's car.
Mtshali said he was told to wait outside the house and to call his brother when Khashane arrived home.
He told the police that his brother had promised him a share of the R100000 they were to receive for the job.
But Dlamini said he knew nothing of Palesa being questioned or ever being a suspect.
Two of the men arrested in connection with Khashane's murder are expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court today.
Khashane was buried last weekend.
