Capricorn honours Caster

MOKGADI Caster Semenya, the 800m women's world champion, will be honoured by the Capricorn district municipality today and by Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale tomorrow.

Municipal spokesperson Moffat Senyatsi said the function is to show the district's pride in Semenya's sterling performance in Berlin.

"Mayor Motalane Monakedi will meet Semenya's family and relatives to thank and congratulate her for epitomising Capricorn as a true hatchery of champions," Senyatsi said yesterday.

Tomorrow Semenya is expected to lead a group of sportsmen and women who will be honoured by the Limpopo premier. The Premier Gala Sports Decorations will be held at Oasis Lodge in Dalmada. Former Orlando Pirates defender Gerald "Mgababa" Raphahlelo will be one of the recipients, said event coordinator Molelemane Segoale.

"These athletes have secured themselves membership of the provincial Hall of Fame."
