PARTY animals have a sizzling, sultry spring in store for them.

So says DJ Mahoota and his buddy DJ Pepsi. They promise a bigger and better than ever Spring Affair.

And a peek into the line-up of artists and DJs begs the question, who let the dogs out?

To add fuel to the fire, comedian David Kau, Yfm's Bonang and colleague Dineo Ranaka are to co-host the event.

As if that is not enough, kwaito musician Thebe, red hot come back kid Winnie Khumalo, Teargas, DJ Ganyani, radio presenter and Afro-pop singer Unathi Nkayi and Chomee are on board.

The speed train takes off at Wemmer Pan in Joburg on September 5 and proceeds to Fountains Venue in Tshwane the next day before coming to a screeching halt at Rose Gardens in Bloemfontein on September 12.

This is the first time the gig will hit Bloemfontein. Boasting 65 DJs and artists, some of the DJs leading the female pack will be DJ Zinhle and Afro-tainment's first lady, Cyndo.

And the males spinning the vinyls will be led by heavyweights such as DJ Christos, Oskido, Vinny and Tira.

"Also on the decks will be exciting names such as Blackcoffee, Sox, Euphonik, C-live, T-bo Touch, Fistaz, Tolly B, Mo Flava, Bobstar, McG and Nutty Nys of Nka Modira fame.

"Setting the stage on fire are music acts such as Big Nuz, Shana, Proverb, Thembi Seete and Tsekeleke. And as much as they are bringing the heat on, we will also be giving away exciting spot prizes," say the organisers.

The who's who in party circles will attend and the organisers say more names will be added to the list as the kick-off day draws closer.

Extending the event to Bloemfontein will add that extra spark to this year's gig, says DJ Pepsi.

"Our plan is to eventually have a countrywide affair that reaches all the provinces. We want to expand the brand. We have grown very big in Jozi and Tshwane and young people from outside Gauteng want the same for themselves," says Pepsi.

Mahoota agrees: "We are trying to create an environment where people understand that they don't have to come to Joburg to be involved in the music business. We will equip them with information that will help them advance their music careers wherever they are.'

"The beautiful thing is that we will be mixing talent from that city as well, in exposing it."

Masheleng, Finzo, Shakes and Divine DJ will join the list.

As a gesture of goodwill, the organisers will donate a mini studio, equipment and conduct workshops. These workshops will deal with issues around the music business, organising and promoting events, legal issues relating to the business, and many more.
