INKATHA Freedom Party leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi says South Africa will take a long time to have agovernment that is not led by the ANC.

His comments come after talks by opposition parties of forming a united front to challenge the ANC in the 2011 local government elections and national election in 2014.

Writing in his weekly news letter, he says the ANC has used its 15 years in power since 1994 effectively, thereby winning the hearts of the voters.

Buthelezi added that it was unlikely that the DA would close the poll gap by defeating the ANC because the path to power was likely to be longer and windier.
