Spokesperson Smanga Selemani said the official was arrested after a complaint was laid by a social grant beneficiary in Mogwase who was entitled to R11680 in July for a disability grant, but was given only R5670.
The suspect allegedly said to the woman she would be paid the remainder the following month, but on that date she was told she had received all her money.
The official will appear in court on September 11. - Sapa
