Gordhan was the kind of chief who was accessible to the masses and business alike. He was not mighty. I remember how he was there during tax-season campaigns to personally explain the benefits of paying taxes.
In 2007 in Soweto Gordhan explained in layman's terms to a puzzled crowd why they should pay tax. Everyone left the room with renewed vigour to go and pay tax.
The new Sars boss has big shoes to fill. My advice is to serve the people and don't become arrogant.
