IN A FITTING conclusion to Women's Month celebrations, nine of the country's top women's soccer teams will fight for the honour of being crowned the Sasol League national champions.
The national championship will take place at Erica Park in Belhar, Cape Town, from August 24-29.
Teams are Coastal United (Eastern Cape), Bloemfontein Celtic (Free State), Palace Super Falcons (Gauteng), Durban Ladies (KwaZulu-Natal), Ma-Indies (Limpopo), Detroit FC (Mpumalanga), Titans Ladies (North West), Crusaders (Northern Cape) and Santos (Western Cape).
Besides the individual awards on offer for outstanding performers, each provincial finalist will receive R30000.
Sasol group sponsorship manager Andriesa Singleton said the sponsorship of the league "is in line with the our theme for all our sports sponsorships: 'Making greater South Africans'."
Safa chief executive Raymond Hack said: "The sponsorship of the Sasol League has left an indelible mark on women's football in only its first year and is punctuated by many firsts, including all teams receiving a soccer 'starter pack' filled with basic training equipment, coaching workshops, increased travel grants and increased prize money for teams."
