Students eager to register first win of season

BIDVEST Wits will be eager to register their first win of the season when they entertain Maritzburg United in an Absa Premiership match at Milpark Stadium tonight.

BIDVEST Wits will be eager to register their first win of the season when they entertain Maritzburg United in an Absa Premiership match at Milpark Stadium tonight.

The Clever Boys got the season off on a low note when they drew 2-2 against AmaZulu at Chatsworth Stadium last week.

Wits manager George Mogotsi said he was impressed with the exciting display by his charges against Usuthu.

"A week's break has given coach Roger de Sa and the technical staff ample time to prepare for this game, and the boys are ready for the job," said Mogotsi.

The KwaZulu-Natal outfit will go into this game with confidence following their 1-1 draw against defending champions SuperSport United in their opening match.

Victory would be a good motivation for United, who escaped relegation by a whisker last season.

United coach Gordon Igesund said: "Wits are a formidable and youthful side, and they play fantastic football.

"But we will be looking to maintaining a good start and they will feel the players' wrath today."

The match kicks off at 7.30pm.

l In another Absa Premiership match tonight Free State Stars come up against Ajax Cape Town at Charles Mopeli Stadium.

The match also starts at 7.30pm.
