STEVE Komphela knows that Platinum Stars fans expect him to repeat the magic he produced last season when he was at the helm of Free State Stars.

Under his guidance indications are that Platinum Stars will be a force this season. But they first have to get maximum points against AmaZulu this afternoon at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.

Komphela is wary of Usuthu.

"AmaZulu have played more games than us and their players have obviously developed telepathy, so we have to give them the respect they deserve. In Neil Tovey they have a very good coach, but we are happy with our preparations so far," he said.

Komphela said they had used the 10-day break since their last match wisely "and the team looks solid. Apart from the stupid penalty we conceded from that stupid referee in the Telkom Charity final against Pirates, we haven't conceded a goal and I'm quite happy with that."

AmaZulu are still reeling from their 2-1 loss to neighbours Golden Arrows in the MTN8 semifinals and the shocking death of defender Jan Sillo. They'll be hoping for better luck this time.

"The games are coming in quickly, but we don't mind and we are looking forward to playing against Platinum Stars," said Tovey. "I'm the kind of person who wants to win things all the time, so I don't feel any pressure - I thrive on it."

Tovey said it has not been difficult to motivate his players for tonight's game.

"The players know what they need to do, and at the moment we are only concerned about tonight's game."
