Big role for Baby in Home Affairs

WITH her new role in Home Affairs 4 stage and television actress Baby Cele-Mabuza is slowly making her way back to television.

Cele-Mabuza, who acted in Backstage, has joined the SABC1 drama series Home Affairs. In the series, she with ays Thandeka, a character previously portrayed by Nthati Moshesh who is now on Scandal.

Moshesh played the role during the first three seasons of Home Affairs. Cele-Mabuza has huge shoes to fill.

"It is an honour for me to replace Nthati. I respect her as an actor and I am happy that she suggested my name when she realised she was busy. However, I do not try to imitate her," she said. "I try to be myself."

Cele-Mabuza said the role of Thandeka's is one of the interesting ones in the show. Thandeka will be stretched to the limit but will come out victorious.

Born in Umlazi, Durban, Cele-Mabuza's career began in 1986 with Sarafina.

After touring with the show she came back and did theatre shows such as Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Sophia Town, Not With My Gun, The Game, Jump the Gun, Love Crime and Lotus Dream.
