Ban the louts

KAIZER Chiefs fans have possibly given Fifa a reason to ban the vuvuzela.

KAIZER Chiefs fans have possibly given Fifa a reason to ban the vuvuzela.

By using it as a weapon in their protest against some of the referee's decisions in the match between their favourite club and Ajax Cape Town, AmaKhosi fans might have heated up the debate about to the little trumpet that is the sound of local football.

Missile throwing always blights the image of the game. It becomes worse now that the local game is in the international spotlight with the World Cup less than 300 days away.

The PSL will charge Chiefs and probably impose a hefty fine on the club. But fans should start to realise that their behaviour not only reflects on their club but on the country as a whole.

The time to make individual fans face the music for loutish behaviour by banning them from attending matches for long periods is long overdue.
