Staff members in Bolobedu say Eric Baloyi was interfering too much in the affairs of the clinic and in their lives. They claim that he had forced them to pay for parties he organised during publicholidays.
They say the latest was the Women's Day celebration on Monday, when he forced some of them to pay R25 each to buy meat for the celebration, which he allegedly hijacked and organised a group of men to run.
Baloyi took over as a committee chairperson two years ago, but nurses say they were fed up with his management style.
The staff members accuse him of using the clinic as an entertainment venue to party with his friends on public holidays.
They told Sowetan that Baloyi did the same thing last year when he forced them to pay for a Youth Day celebration and later took some of the groceries to his home.
The staff members claim that Baloyi had been stalking them for two weeks to pay and had threatened to isolate those who failed to give him the money.
"We are sick and tired of being ordered around by the chairperson, who also disrespects our partners," a concerned nurse said.
Spokesperson for the department of health Selby Makgotho condemned Baloyi's alleged actions.
Makgotho warned that there was no person who had the authority to organise an event outside the department's year calendar of activities, let alone to collect money from people to fund his events.
He added that the staff membersat the clinic should take the matter up with the department so that it could beinvestigated.
