Flat owners live in terror

I WOULD like to comment on the article about hijacked buildings in and around Johannesburg.

I WOULD like to comment on the article about hijacked buildings in and around Johannesburg.

My family, a few neighbours and I have been, and still are, being terrorised by the people who commandeer these building.

We have been to court to fend off these shady members of our community, most of whom are foreign nationals.

Some of our neighbours have reluctantly succumbed to pressure and threats that sometimes turn violent.

These criminals work with local leaders, and use these leaders to frighten the rightful owners out of their hard-earned flats.

They then move five to six families into a flat meant for one family and collect ridiculous rentals from foreigners and people from the rural areas.

These criminals have connections with corrupt officials at the courts, who refuse to accept documents that prove we own the flats. Instead they support and receive fraudulent documents from these parasites.

The report is true in saying these syndicates run a their racket in 30 to 60 buildings.

I know of one family that has moved to an RDP house after being forcibly evicted from their Hillbrow flat.

We can provide all the details of people who were wrongfully evicted from their flats in Hermanna Court in Paul Nel Street, Hillbrow.

Your attention to this would be appreciated and we, the residents, are most indebted to you.
