No bail for 3 murder suspects

Three Durban men accused of gunning down two men in a Greytown robbery were denied bail by the Pietermaritzburg regional court.

Three Durban men accused of gunning down two men in a Greytown robbery were denied bail by the Pietermaritzburg regional court.

Mondli Zuma, Sifiso Mazibuko and Simphiwe Cebekhulu were denied bail by magistrate TN Mncube on Wednesday.

A fourth suspect, Thokozani Mzila, did not apply for bail.

The men are charged with the alleged murder and aggravated robbery of Greytown businessman Mohammed Sayed, 35, on June 1.

They are also charged with the murder of alleged accomplice Mandla Majola, who was dressed in a policeman's uniform. Majola was wounded in the shooting in Sayed's bedroom. He died in the Addington Hospital a few hours later.

Inspector Swami Pillay, who opposed bail, told the court about the leads that had led to the arrests.

Pillay said Zuma had "come clean", given information and agreed to testify for the state. The case was adjourned to September 9 for further investigation. - Sapa
