Pens with fountains of ink

FOUNTAIN pens have a supply of ink inside them. The ink is in a reservoir, either a disposable cartridge or a sac-like container inside the pen's barrel. Disposable cartridges can be removed and replaced with a new one when they run dry. The sac is filled by placing the tip, or nib, of the pen into a bottle of ink and then drawing the ink into the sac. The first working fountain pen was developed in 1884 by Lewis Waterman. - bigsiteofamazingfacts.com; ehow.com; fountainpennetwork.com
