BOXING mentor Elias Tshabalala and his charge, Tshifhiwa "Atomic Spider" Munyai, could be in hot water for arriving at 9.05pm for a 9pm fight with Ghanaian Galley "Ticotico" Codjoe at Nasrec Arena.
According to Loyiso Mtya, the acting chief executive of Boxing SA, Munyai and Tshabalala were supposed to be there two hours before their fight.
"This information is drummed into boxers' ears millions of times. Munyai and Tshabalala disrupted the whole programme of the fights and that of the television.
"We could not cut off Muvhuso Nedzanani's time for preparing himself for his fight (with Ramadhan Nkudi) to make up for Munyai," he said.
Munyai and Tshabalala have been summoned to a hearing at Nasrec on Monday.
Munyai, the WBA International bantamweight champion, won the fight in the first round without breaking into a sweat. The bout was supposed to be the main supporting bout to the main attraction between Mzonke Fana and Jasper Seroka.
That fight was televised live at 10pm.
But Munyai's fight against Codoje had to be delayed until after the main bout, leading to an hour-long break in the action before the main bout.
Fana and Seroka fought for the number one position in the IBF's junior lightweight ratings.
The "Rose of Khayelitsha" stopped "Jazzman" Seroka in the sixth round. Fana will challenge the winner between champion Malcolm "The Stone" Klassen and Roberto 'The Ghost" Guerrero, whose fight will take place in the US on August 22.
