ABSA Premiership upstarts Mpumalanga Black Aces have confirmed the signing of German goalkeeper Thomas Richter.
The player has impressed AmaZayoni coach Sammy Troughton after training with the Mpumalanga club for a week.
The 29-year-old goalie from Bundesliga 2 side SV Wehen has penned a two-season contract with Aces.
Richter will compete for the position with current No 1 Oscar Ramogoadi and Richard de Villiers.
Troughton said yesterday: "Richter is a very good goalkeeper and there is no doubt that he will make a meaningful contribution in the team.
"He is an experienced goalkeeper after having represented his country in the under-18 and under-20 squads.
"Last season he played 95percent of matches for SV Wehen."
He said he hoped his work permit and international clearance would be ready before their season opener against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday at Super Stadium.
With the arrival of Richter, Aces have placed their other goalkeepers, Nascent Nkhwashu and Bafana Nhlapho, on transfer.
The team also announced that they have completed registering new recruits Gilbert Mushangazikhe, Nkosinathi Ogle, Thomrick October, Joseph Mthombeni and Rudiger Gilbert. Triallists Michael Nkambule, Clifford Mulenga and Nathaniel November have been released.
Meanwhile, all Aces supporters are invited to a meeting at Lynnville Hall tomorrow at 5.30pm to prepare for their match against Sundowns.
