Chokoe sets up agency

PERSUADED by the advice of Orlando Pirates chairperson Irvin Khoza to set up a players' agency, Limpopo youth development coach Sello "Skhalo" Chokoe has switched from coaching to become a players' agent.

Chokoe said Khoza told him to make the switch when the two were negotiating for training and development compensation for Bucs winger Tlou Segolela in 2007. Segolela is now on loan at Bloemfontein Celtic.

"I felt that it was high time I moved to another level in football," said Chokoe, a lawyer by profession. "It is a matter of helping the players and to assist them to move (up) to the professional ranks. My agency will ensure that players focus on playing rather than negotiating contracts."

Chokoe, resigned as head coach at Seemole Sports Academy in Seshego yesterday. While coaching at the academy he produced the likes of Segolela and Tshepo Mothiba (University of Pretoria).
