NEW national police chief Bheki Cele is to appear in the Durban high court on August 21 for a case involving the Inkatha Freedom Party.
The IFP has accused Cele of carrying a gun at an election rally in Nongoma in January. The party also accuses him of provoking police to shoot at IFP members.
"The case is still going ahead and everything has been filed so far," IFP attorney Lawrence de Klerk said yesterday.
IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi is among the respondents in the application. - Sapa
