Transnat made the application in the Pietermaritzburg high court yesterday.
The court ruling restrains the Transport and Allied Workers Union of SA (Tawusa) from taking "any steps to prevent Transnat Africa from operating the bus service".
Transnat was in the process of employing Tawusa members in compliance with its reduced service contract in the new deal, but the union instructed its workers not to apply for the jobs on the basis that it wanted Transnat to employ all 1300 workers - or none at all.
Within minutes of the successful application Transnat bosses invited all drivers formerly employed by Remant Alton to apply.
"We always believed that Tawusa's actions were illegal," said Transnat chief executive Mike Jesserman.
"Hopefully by Wednesday (tomorrow) we would have finished with the recruiting for our fleet of 450 buses."
