At 5pm on Sunday police spotted an Opel Ascona speeding on the N2 and flagged it down.
The driver sped off on to a dirt road and collided head-on with a Volkswagen Polo. The former burst into flames, burning nine of its 10 occupants to death.
Two men and a woman in the Polo also died. Another woman, who was eight-months pregnant, died on the way to hospital. - Sapa
