Services under threat

l There will be no municipal bus services across the country. Tshwane has advised commuters to make alternative arrangements. Johannesburg's Metrobus will come to a standstill and in Durban bus drivers are already on strike.

lRefuse bins will not be collected.

l There will be no service at traffic departments and members of metro police departments say they will also down tools, though they will provide "essential" services.

lMunicipal clinics and emergency services will be affected. Unions said it would be up to municipalities to request skeletal staff for essential services.

lStaff at Johannesburg's old-age homes, childcare centres and libraries will also be on strike.

lMunicipal road works will cease to operate.

lUnions say they will bring every one of their municipal workers out on strike.
