KWAITO star Mandoza is going to belt out Nkalakata to the Japanese.
Mandoza, real name Mduduzi Tshabalala, left the country for Japan yesterday and will perform for fans at the 12th annual Fuji Rock Festival. The event, also known as "R-Fest", starts this week.
"Japan will get to see what exploded on to the South African scene more than a decade ago," said his manager Vaughn Eaton.
He said Mandoza would also meet with a company called Avex Trax that was interested in licensing his album to be released in Japan.
"He will be performing with two of Japan's superstars, Doji T and Baby M," Eaton said.
"Mandoza collaborated with Baby M on a song called Good Bye to My Love, which was released in Japan last year."
Eaton said the artist also worked with Mandoza on his album Ingwenya, which has done well in Japan.
"This led to another collaboration with Doji T on a track called Get Ready, which was released in Japan last month."
Eaton said Mandoza would perform his hit songs, with special requests for Nkalakata and Myeke Baba as the music videos had already been flighted on TV stations in Japan.
The festival takes place in the foothills of Mount Fuji. More than 100 000 people attend the annual event.
