Young Bulls step up

Blue BULLS coach Frans Ludeke is puting his faith in development players with the inclusion of inside centre Stefan Watermeyer in the squad to take on the Sharks in a Currie Cup match in Durban tomorrow.

Blue BULLS coach Frans Ludeke is puting his faith in development players with the inclusion of inside centre Stefan Watermeyer in the squad to take on the Sharks in a Currie Cup match in Durban tomorrow.

Flyhalf Francois Brummer has alreadyshowed his potential. He was a revelation against the Lions and Western Province after he took over from Morne Steyn recently.

Watermeyer will start in the place of the on-form Wynand Olivier who was called up by Springboks coach Peter de Villiers for the Tri-Nations Test against New Zealand in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

The 21-year-old will partner Jaco Pretorius in midfield.

"Stefan has been in the system for four years and he had a particularly good game in the warm-up match against Border," said Ludeke on the Bulls website yesterday.

"He was rock solid in the Vodacom Cup and therefore I have no doubt that he will be able to do the job for us against the Sharks."
