LAMONTVILLE Golden Arrows deny that they have put a R4million price-tag on the head of their silky midfield maestro Papi Zothwane.
Club boss Mato Madlala told Sowetan that the reports about the player, who is contracted to Abafana Bes'thende until 2011, were totally misleading.
"I don't even want to entertain that because it is not true. You can even talk to his manager (Glen) Binkin if you want to, he will attest to that," Madlala said.
"All I can say is that Papi has the right to find the team of his choice and if there is a club that is interested in his services, they should approach us.
"We will let him go if we agree terms with the club that is interested in him. We will never stand in his way by demanding such a huge amount of money."
Binkin shared Madlala's sentiments. "I know there are a number of clubs that are interested in him because he is such a good player after all. But I never heard of R4m asked by Arrows for his services.
"I know Mato would never demand such a huge amount (of money).
"She has the interest of the player at heart and they have a good relationship, so she would be reasonable in dealing with his future and not stand on the player's way," said Binkin, adding that clubs must however, not expect to get him for "nothing".
He attributed the confusion to clubs speaking directly to the player and not with the club.
"Clubs know that the player is still contracted to Arrows, so they should approach the club or me."
